
Davis crash Interstate 80 Richards
3 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Davis Crash on Interstate 80 Near Richards
DAVIS, CA (September 25, 2022) – A crash killed and seriously injured several people on the Interstate 80 near Richards Boulevard in Davis.
According to The Sacramento Bee and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:13 a.m.
The incident began when an Infiniti sedan was traveling east in a westbound lane of the Interstate 80, west of Richards Boulevard, in Davis. At the same time, a Hyundai sedan was going west.
The California Highway Patrol said the Infiniti then slammed head-on into the Hyundai. The 30-year-old Petaluma man driving the Hyundai died as a result of the collision.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car
Paramedics also pronounced the wrong-way driver, a 31-year-old Fairfield woman, and her passenger, a 27-year-old Fairfield woman, dead.
The other two occupants of the Infiniti, 36- and 31-year-old men from Oakland and Sacramento, survived the incident with major injuries.
Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP believed that alcohol played a role in the accident. Officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down for a time near Richards following the wreck.
