Hit-and-run Driver Who Killed Dayveonna Polk Faces Manslaughter Charges
MERCED, Calif. (Dec. 6, 2017) — Issac Maldonado, 22, is facing charges of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter for the (Dec. 4) death of 3-year-old Dayveonna Polk, according to Bakersfield Now.
The child was allegedly struck by the suspect’s vehicle Monday night as she walked in a crosswalk with her mother and three other children at W 18th and “R” Street in Merced. Dayveonna was airlifted to a hospital where she died of her injuries. Maldonado allegedly fled the scene without stopping to help the victims.
The Merced Police Department booked the suspect into Merced County Jail.
