Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves One Person Dead
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (July 15, 2024) -— One person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash late Sunday on the Interstate 680 Freeway in the Pacheco area.
The five-vehicle traffic accident occurred at around 10:55 p.m. on July 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
First, the of the vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of the East Bay Freeway near the Concord Avenue off ramp. One of those vehicles overturned onto its roof and a person was ejected into the roadway.

There were five vehicles in total involved including a Volkswagen sedan, a Toyota Prius, a Toyota Corolla, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, and a Honda Civic, the report said. The Honda wound up facing the wrong way after the accident.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the death of one person, but it’s unknown if there were others who were injured.
The CHP reported the freeway was blocked by vehicles and they closed down the eastbound and westbound transition ramps from state Highway 4.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the 680 Freeway crash in Pacheco.
