Deadly Crash Involving Semi-Truck on I-15 Freeway in Mountain Pass

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif., (August 27, 2026) — A fatal crash involving a car and semi-truck occurred early Thursday morning on the northbound I-15 Freeway near mile marker 169 in the Mountain Pass area.
The tragic incident was reported on August 27th at approximately 2:19 a.m. on the Mojave Freeway (I-15), west of Nipton, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A white sedan reportedly swerved and collided with a semi-truck. Emergency responders, including CHP units and Mercy Air, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found a male party on the ground exhibiting agonal breathing, a sign of severe distress and impending death. Despite the rapid response and the request for an airship, there were obvious signs of death noted at approximately 2:44 a.m., leading to the notification of the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.
Efforts were made to close traffic lanes for the safe landing of the airship, and lane closures were executed to manage the scene efficiently. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities, who are asking anyone with information or witnesses to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
