Richgrove Man, 20, Killed, Woman, 23, Injured
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 21, 2024) — A two-vehicle crash involving a fatality happened early Friday morning on the Famoso-Porterville Highway at Cecil Avenue in Porterville.
Police say a 20-year-old Richgrove man was driving a Toyota eastbound on Cecil Avenue.
The driver reportedly pulled out into the path of a southbound Honda that was traveling at roughly 60 mph on Famoso-Porterville Highway. The two vehicles collided at around 3:05 a.m. on June 21st, according to California Highway Patrol.
Unfortunately, the young man driving the Toyota suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old McFarland woman driving the Honda suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Police stated there are stop signs controlling traffic coming from Cecil Avenue, but there are no stop signs for motorists traveling along the Famoso-Porterville Highway.
It’s unknown what factors contributed to the crash, but the Porterville traffic accident remains under investigation.
