Deadly Crash on Interstate 10 Freeway, Robertson Boulevard

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 East in West Los Angeles

WEST LOS ANGELES, Calif., (May 4, 2026) — A fiery, multi-vehicle collision claimed at least one life on Interstate 10 Freeway East, just west of Robertson Blvd on Monday night in West Los Angeles.

The incident occurred on May 4th around 7:15 p.m., involving a blue Toyota Prius, a gray Toyota RAV4, a silver Infiniti, and a white Toyota Corolla. According to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports, the Prius and the Infiniti were both traveling at high speeds before the collision. The blue Toyota Prius wound up crashed in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes and was fully engulfed in flames, with its driver tragically trapped inside.

Emergency responders, including the CHP and fire department, arrived promptly at the scene. Multiple witnesses attempted to direct traffic, and good Samaritans tried to break the window of the Prius. Unfortunately, the efforts to rescue the driver of the blue Toyota Prius were unsuccessful, as the vehicle was completely engulfed.

Meanwhile, the CHP report stated a pedestrian was lying in the No. 3 lane, but it’s unknown if he was hit.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The crash resulted in the temporary closure of multiple lanes on the highway as authorities worked to manage the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident and urging any witnesses to come forward with information that could assist in determining the cause of this devastating accident.
