Two Pickup Trucks Crash Head-on on Highway 67 in Poway

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2026) — A deadly crash involving two pickup trucks happened Thursday in Poway on State Route 67 near Ellie Lane, just north of Poway Road in San Diego County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred in Poway around 6:08 a.m. on Oct. 8th, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Paramedics from the Poway Fire Department responded and transported one person to a hospital with serious injuries.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is heading up an investigation into the collision that resulted in one fatality on scene.

Police redirected northbound traffic to Poway Road and southbound traffic was turned around at Archie Moore Road, the report said.

Deputies working on the case believe the driver of a pickup truck was northbound on SR-67 and veered into oncoming southbound traffic where it collided with another pickup truck.

One of the drivers suffered major injuries and died on scene and the other was also seriously injured and hospitalized.

The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
