Deadly Labor Day Crash on 405 Freeway Near Getty Center Drive

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2026) — One person died in a five-vehicle crash on Labor Day on the northbound 405 Freeway near Getty Center Drive in the Sepulveda Pass area of Los Angeles.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred after 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7th, 2026, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. One person, who remains unidentified, died at the scene of the collision.
Meanwhile, paramedics treated at least one other person for minor injuries, the LAFD said.
Traffic on the northbound I-405r was blocked due to the collision, the investigation, and cleanup.
Finally, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
