Deadly Propane Truck Crash on State Route 247, Near Rattlesnake Road
Fiery Head-on Crash on Highway 247 Near Lucerne Valley
JOHNSON VALLEY, Calif. (July 16, 2024) — One person is dead and another injured after a fiery, head-on crash involving a propane truck and car on State Route 247.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15th near near Rattlesnake Road and Lucerne Valley, according to Victor Valley News.
San Bernardino County firefighters responded to the crash scene where they located an overturned Ferrellgas truck loaded with propane canisters. The truck exploded and the passenger vehicle it collided with caught on fire. The truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in the collision.
Paramedics transported two people to hospital trauma center where one died and the other is being treated for undisclosed injuries.
Authorities closed down the highway in both directions to conduct an investigation into what happened, but there are no further details.
