Dean Lyles, 73, Killed in Orange Crash at Sycamore Avenue and Main Street
ORANGE, CA (July 20, 2021) – Dean Lyles was killed after a DUI crash at Sycamore Avenue and Main Street in Orange.
Police identified the 73-year-old Orange man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Sunday afternoon.
Orange police said the incident began when Dean Lyles stopped his Mazda Protege in a left turn lane. He was waiting to transition from northbound Main Street to westbound Sycamore Avenue at the time.
A Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed north on Main Street then approached the intersection. Its driver, 23-year-old Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contreras, hit the rear of the Mazda.

The impact pushed the Mazda into into the El Camino Park. The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the wreck occurred on July 18 shortly after 4 p.m.
Dean Lyles died at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, police determined that Manuel Sanchez Contreras was under the influence when he struck the other car.
They soon arrested the Los Angeles man on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The Orange DUI crash is still under investigation.
