Debbie Yang, 18, Dies at Fresno Rave “Hot Summer Nights 7”
FRESNO, California (July 12, 2016) — Debbie Yang, 18, of Merced died during a rave event held at 1170 Broadway Plaza at the Crest Theater, according to the Fresno Bee.
The teenager was picked up at the “Hot Summer Nights 7” event by an American Ambulance about 1:30 a.m. and confirmed dead. The event, which was held between 8 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., featured musical acts and DJ’s including Vini Vici, Reorder and Alex DiStefano.
Police did not learn about the young woman’s death until a couple of days later, but there is an investigation into what caused her to die including a toxicology report to determine whether drugs and or alcohol were involved.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department is heading up the investigation into the fatality.
Young people who attend raves such as this one are unfortunately vulnerable to and have exposure to illegal drugs and alcohol. There should be adequate security at such events to ensure these drugs are not available as well as proper access to medical care should someone fall ill on the grounds.
