Deborah Abata, 62, Seriously Injured in Calistoga DUI Crash on Highway 29
CALISTOGA, CA (March 15, 2021) – A fatal DUI crash seriously injured Deborah Abata along Highway 29 near Calistoga.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 62-year-old Santa Rosa woman as one of the two victims in the wreck on Monday morning.
The incident happened when Deborah Abata was riding as a passenger in an Infiniti that was going north on Highway 29 near Calistoga. At the same time, a Subaru was traveling south.
CHP said the Subaru then crossed over the center line and went directly into the path of the Infiniti. In the process, the two cars collided head-on, just south of Larkmead Lane.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They confirmed that the 64-year-old Santa Rosa man driving the Infiniti died as a result of the collision.
Deborah Abata and the male driver of the Subaru suffered major injuries following the crash. Medical personnel rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
According to the report published by The Napa Valley Register, the accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Officers forced Highway 29 to shut down in both directions for two hours due to the accident.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the other motorist involved was under the influence of drugs when the wreck took place. They arrested him for suspected felony DUI, causing major injury.
The tragic collision is still under investigation.
