Motorcyclist Deion Nobles, 24, Killed in Bakersfield Crash at Chester Avenue and 2nd Street
BAKERSFIELD (February 17, 2020) – The motorcyclist killed after an alleged DUI crash in the area of Chester Avenue and 2nd Street last week has been identified.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office said 24-year-old Deion Shaquille Nobles, of Bakersfield, died following the accident on February 14.
Police said Nobles was on his motorcycle when he was approaching the intersection. At the same time, a pickup truck was allegedly making an unsafe turn.
Suspect Torres Dawson Arrested on DUI
According to reports the Bakersfield Now and 23 ABC News, Nobles then collided with the vehicle in the intersection. The tragic collision took place shortly before 6 p.m.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the pickup was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when the wreck occurred.
Officers ultimately arrested the motorist, Torres Dawson, on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Authorities booked him into the Kern County Jail.
