Pedestrian, 82, Seriously Injured in Del Mar Heights Crash on Mango Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 16, 2022) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a crash on Mango Drive in the Del Mar Heights neighborhood.
According to an article published by the ABC 10 News, the accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the collision at about 10:26 p.m.
The incident happened on July 15 when a male pedestrian was walking east to west on Mango Drive. At the same time, a man in his 50s was riding an e-bike at a high rate of speed north from Del Mar Heights Road.
Speeding E-Bike Rider Hits Man
San Diego police said the e-bike then struck the 82-year-old man in the 13800 block of the road. The e-bike did not have a light when it hit the person.
Both the victim and the speeding rider sustained a brain bleed and several fractures as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
The report did not release the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, police forced a stretch of Mango Drive to shut down following the collision.
