1 Killed in Del Norte County Truck Accident on Highway 199 Monday
DEL NORTE COUNTY (September 18, 2018) – A fatal traffic collision involving a big rig occurred along Highway 199 on Monday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The accident was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. near the Gasquet community.
CHP first logged the incident when for an unknown reason a semi-truck and a passenger car collided on Highway 199 near Patrick Creek. The big rig was reportedly found on top of the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that at least one person was killed following the wreck.
The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the dispatch later indicated that the truck apparently hit two cars at the time.
Authorities are gathering more information and evidence to determine what exactly caused the collision.
