DELANO, California — A fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Garces Highway near Albany Street in the morning of March 16.
According to an article by ABC 23, officers were dispatched to the area at around 6:00 a.m. following a report of an unresponsive man who has since been identified as Jose Macias, 65, of Delano, on the dirt shoulder of the freeway.
Police officials immediately performed CPR on Macias before rushing him to Delano Regional Medical Center where he later died.
Per the Kern Golden Empire, the driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene and was not suspected to have been under the influence and was cooperative with authorities.
Delano PD will handle the investigation as it remains unclear who will be held liable.
