REDDING, Calif. (July 19, 2018) — Joseph Sharpe, 24, was arrested on DUI and hit-and-run charges after crashing his vehicle early Thursday morning into a rock wall at a home on Rancho Road at Alta Mesa Drive, according to the Redding Searchlight.
His passenger, Dena Bommarito, 19, of Redding, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The collision took place about 2 a.m. Sharpe was driving a 1996 Honda Accord allegedly while under the influence of alcohol when he allegedly drove through a stop sign and crashed the vehicle. He then got out of the vehicle and left the scene. Police later located the suspect driver and arrested him. He is also charged with providing false information and making threats to a police officer. Police say he had a suspended license and was already on probation for a previous DUI conviction.

At this time, police are holding Mr. Sharpe responsible for this collision. Dena Bommarito was hurt and may have grounds for a civil lawsuit or insurance claim to recoup her financial losses
