Man, 64, Killed when Massive Oak Tree Falls on Encino Home
ENCINO, Calif. (Nov. 30, 2021) – Dennis Franks, 64, died late Sunday night when a massive tree fell onto his two-story Encino home on Odessa Avenue.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported the incident at about 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28th in the 5000 block of Odessa Avenue.
There were three people in the home at the time the tree crashed down onto it. Two women survived with unknown injuries and were rescued by firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Dennis Franks, 64, was in a bedroom when the tree fell and sadly died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Officials estimate the oak tree weighed about 100,000 pounds, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Authorities said the weather conditions were calm when the tree fell.
