The accident took place around 3:20 a.m. near 75th Street East.
As per the article, a statement released by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station said deputies responded to a motor-vehicle collision report on Palmdale Boulevard and were conducting traffic control when a 2003 Dodge Caravan broadsided the patrol vehicle.
The driver of the Dodge, 41-year-old Shanita Latrice Williams, was headed east when she failed to see the patrol car which had its light bar activated at the time.
A deputy apparently inside the unit when the crash occurred was taken to Palmdale Regional Medical Center to be treated for a broken elbow. The name of the victim was not released.
Meanwhile Williams failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The Inglewood woman was booked at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station jail with a bail set at $100,000.
