Deputy Garrett Rifkin Loses Leg After West Hollywood Hit-and-Run Accident
WEST HOLLYWOOD (September 4, 2018) – A sheriff’s deputy seriously injured after an alleged hit-and-run crash at Formosa and Fountain avenues last month has lost his leg, according to KTLA and ABC 7.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Garrett Rifkin was heading to the LASD’s West L.A. station on August 3 when the accident took place.
As per the reports, police said Deputy Rifkin was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Formosa and Fountain avenues around 5:10 p.m.

The deputy was left with non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where his leg was amputated below the knee.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved briefly stopped after hitting the victim but ultimately fled the scene. The suspect was later arrested and is reportedly facing up to four years in prison.
