Man Fatally Struck by Patrol Vehicle at North Pacific Avenue and Broadway
Sunset Beach, CA (August 28, 2022) – Derrick Deon Flanders, a 45-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of North Pacific Avenue and Broadway.
According to the Orange County Register, Flanders was walking in Sunset Beach Saturday morning. When the pedestrian approached the intersection of North Pacific Avenue and Broadway, a passing marked patrol car struck the man. The collision resulted in life-threatening injuries to the pedestrian. The article published online mentioned the man sadly died at the hospital. Authorities identified the fatal victim as Derrick Deon Flanders, of Rancho Palos Verdes.
Meanwhile, the officer, a 22-year-old man, appeared unharmed after the incident.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning. They continue to investigate the precise circumstances that led up to the deadly accident that happened at North Pacific Avenue and Broadway.
