Derrick Simpson, 48, Fatal Victim in Head-On Collision Near Stockton Boulevard Thursday
Elk Grove, CA (September 17, 2021) – Derrick Simpson, a 48-year-old man, died following a car crash that occurred on Highway 99 Thursday.
The Sacramento Bee News reported Elk Grove police were pursuing a stolen car traveling on Calvine Road, just east of Power Inn Road. In an attempt to evade the officers, the suspect drove onto southbound Highway 99 going the wrong way. For this reason, the Elk Grove police called off their chase.
Shortly after 2:40 a.m., the stolen gold Honda Accord collided head-on into a Honda Insight. Preliminary investigation revealed thus horrible crash took place on Highway 99 at the Stockton Boulevard onramp.
Our sources confirmed a passenger in the stolen Honda sadly died as a result of the wreck. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Derrick Deion Simpson.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda Insight reportedly sustained major injuries. Responding paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
