Hit-and-Run Driver Derrick Thompson, 22, Arrested After Car Crash at Butterfly and Channel Drive

October 12, 2018 – Several people were injured in a suspected hit-and-run collision at the corner of Butterfly Lane and Channel Drive, according to Noozhawk.
The accident happened on September 4, Tuesday.

Preliminary investigation revealed 22-year-old Derrick John Thompson was driving a white Chevrolet Impala in the area when it careened around the corner of Butterfly Lane from Channel Drive, and struck 58-year-old Jennifer Jan Jenson, of North Carolina.
Officials said Thompson was being pursued by Ventura Police Department officers when the collision took place.
After hitting the Jenson and her two companions, Thompson apparently fled the scene on foot. As per the article, Jenson has now been apprehended following an extensive investigation.

Primary reports indicated Thompson was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, hit and run, evading arrest causing serious injury, possession of marijuana for sale, and resisting arrest.
Furthermore, authorities mentioned Thompson was driving with two passenger at the time of the accident. The passengers were identified as 25-year-old Diamonte Markel Hickerson, and 26-year-old Justyn DeSean Sanders. Both parties were apparently taken into custody after the crash on suspicion of conspiracy and possession of marijuana for sale.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
