3 Injured in Desert Center Crash on Interstate 10 Near Corn Springs
DESERT CENTER, CA (April 7, 2023) – Several were hospitalized after a crash on the Interstate 10 near the Corn Springs exit in Desert Center.
According to an article published by My News LA, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck on April 7 shortly before 7 a.m.
The incident began when an SUV was going west on the Interstate 10, approaching a construction zone, near the Corn Springs exit in Desert Center.
For an unknown reason, the car slammed into a water attenuator. The SUV spun out of control and then pushed the attenuator into a lane on the freeway.
Car and Big Rig Involved in Wreck
The California Highway Patrol said a big rig approached and struck the attenuator. A woman riding as a passenger in the car sustained injuries caused by air-bag deployment and hitting the windshield.
An air ambulance flew her to the Desert Regional Medical Center with trauma to her face and pain to her chest. The two children traveling with her ended up unharmed.
The man driving the SUV sustained minor lacerations to his head and face, while the driver of the semi-truck survived with a minor injury.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to the hospital for treatment. The reports did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 10 to shut down near Corn Springs following the wreck. The cause of the Desert Center crash is still under investigation.
