1 Injured in Desert Center Hit-and-Run Crash on 10 Freeway Near Hayfield
DESERT CENTER, CA (September 19, 2021) – At least one was injured after a hit-and-run crash on the 10 Freeway in Desert Center.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident on Saturday morning, September 18. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 8:08 a.m.
CHP said a Walmart semi-truck collided with a car for an unknown reason in Desert Center. The two crashed on the westbound 10 Freeway, east of Hayfield Road.
Semi-Truck Hits Car, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the city of Modesto. They found a passenger in a car who complained of back pain as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then treated the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the wreck. Officials did not release the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the semi-truck did not stop to help and fled the area. Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to close following the accident.
The cause of the Desert Center hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
