1 Killed, 2 Injured in Desert Hot Springs Crash on North Indian Canyon Drive

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 23, 2021) – A crash killed one person and injured two people on Indian Canyon Drive in Desert Hot Springs.

According to the KESQ News and NBC Palm Springs, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 6 p.m.

The incident happened on July 22 when a Kia Rio was going east on North Indian Canyon Drive near Mission Lakes Boulevard. At the same time, a pick up truck was traveling west.

Desert Hot Springs police said the Kia left the eastbound side of the road for an unknown reason. The car tried to correct the course and then entered the opposing lanes of traffic.

2 Cars Collide Head-On Crash

In the process, the Rio slammed head-on into the pickup truck. The passenger in the Kia, a 27-year-old woman, died as a result of the collision.

Paramedics evaluated the driver of the pickup for their complaint of pain. Medical personnel took the 28-year-old man driving the Rio to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police forced a part of North Indian Canyon Drive to shut down for more than five hours following the wreck.

The cause of the fatal Desert Hot Springs crash is still under investigation.
