Ronald Blumkin Dead in Desert Hot Springs on Wednesday
DESERT HOT SPRINGS (April 5, 2017)- According to the Desert Sun, a pedestrian versus auto collision took place Wednesday morning at the intersection of Palm and Ironwood drives.
At roughly 6:00 a.m., a man identified as Ronald Blumkin, 75, was crossing the intersection upon being struck by a southbound Hyundai Elantra whose driver immediately stopped, pulled over and phoned 911.
Blumkin was sadly pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of police officials and paramedics.
Authorities disclosed that Ronald Blumkin may not have been inside the means of a marked crosswalk upon being struck, however, that statement could not be confirmed at this time as the Desert Springs PD will gather more details before coming to a conclusion.
This fatal pedestrian incident marks the fourth fatal pedestrian versus auto collision this year to date in the Coachella Valley area, per the Desert Sun.
In 2016, a total of 29 people suffered fatal injuries after being hit by vehicles, according to further data collected by the Desert Sun.
