ONTARIO, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2023) — Desiree Torres, 44, of Fontana, died in an Ontario collision between her car and big rig truck on the Interstate 10 Freeway near Archibald Avenue.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the westbound lanes about 3:49 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The semi-truck loaded with 20,000 pounds of cargo blocked the off ramp lane and the Chevrolet Impala came to a stop between the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes following the wreck. It’s unknown what led up to the collision at this time.
The Ontario Fire Department responded to the scene to help those involved, but sadly Desiree Torres died about 4:20 a.m. at the crash scene, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
Police issued a SigAlert due to the crash after the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 lanes were closed and subsequent investigation into liability. The CHP’s Rancho Cucamonga station is heading up the investigation.
