Kaiden Lopez, 2, Also Hurt
CLOVIS, California (July 21, 2016) – A 13-year-old girl critically injured after being struck by an alleged speeding driver on Wednesday night has been identified as Destiny Molijar, according to The Fresno Bee.
The collision, which also hurt 2-year-old Kaiden Lopez, occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at Willow and Holland avenues.
As per the article, police said Molijar was crossing Willow at Holland Avenue from the southwest to the northeast corner with family members when she and Lopez, who was in a stroller at the time, was hit by a truck headed north on Willow.
Molijar, of San Diego, was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where she was listed in grave condition. The 2-year-old child, who is from Fresno, was treated at the hospital and later released.
The Fresno Bee reported that one of the family members, Jose Lopez, claimed the driver was going between 50 and 60 mph prior to the accident. The unidentified motorist allegedly attempted to leave the scene after the crash but was stopped by the other family member at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
