Devin McCune, 29, Killed in Nevada City Crash on Banner Lava Cap Road
NEVADA CITY, CA (April 26, 2021) – A DUI crash along Banner Lava Cap Road killed Devin McCune in Nevada City.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 29-year-old Livermore man as the victim of the fatal car accident on Sunday night.
The incident happened on April 25 when Devin McCune was riding as a passenger in a 1997 Ford Explorer in Nevada City. CHP said the Ford then spun out of control.
Car Slams Into Tree Near Forest View Drive
The right front portion of the Explorer struck a tree, causing the car to roll into an irrigation ditch. The wreck occurred in the 11000 block of Banner Lava Cap Road, just west of Forest View Drive.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and then extricated Devin McCune from the wreckage. The Union affirmed that he died at the scene.
Officers reported the collision at around 9 p.m. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the male driver of the Ford was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Medical personnel treated him for complaint of body pain. Authorities soon arrested and booked the motorist into the Nevada County Jail on felony charges of manslaughter and DUI.
The DUI crash is still under investigation.
