Driver Leaves Scene After Woman Jumps Out of Car
BREA, Calif. (July 30, 2018) – Dezirae Mendoza, 20, of Anaheim, allegedly jumped out of a moving minivan early Monday morning and later died at a hospital after suffering major head injuries, according to Orange County news sources.
The young woman, a mother of two young children, was hurt about 1:26 a.m. The incident took place on Imperial Highway at Laurel Avenue in the city of Brea. Police say the victim was a passenger in the tan minivan driven by an unidentified man who drove off after briefly stopping at the scene to let out two other passengers. Those passengers helped the woman and called 911 for help. Paramedics rushed her to UCI Medical Center in Orange, but doctors were unable to save the woman. She was pronounced dead at the trauma center.
It’s unknown at this time whether or not police have located the driver and if any charges will be filed.
