1 Killed, 2 Injured in Diamond Bar Crash at Golden Springs and Brea Canyon
DIAMOND, CA (September 9, 2021) – A crash killed one person and injured two others at Golden Springs Drive and Brea Canyon Road in Diamond Bar.
According to an article published by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 2 p.m.
The incident began when a Mercedes-Benz C230 was going north on Brea Canyon Road at a high rate of speed in Diamond Bar. The Mercedes ran a red light at the intersection with Golden Springs Drive.
Police said the Mercedes hit a car making a left onto Brea Canyon and another vehicle making a right turn. The Mercedes collided with other vehicles before slamming head-on with a Honda.
Multiple Cars Collide
The driver of the Mercedes, an 83-year-old Diamond Bar man, ended up ejected from the car. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They rushed the elderly motorist to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died. Medical personnel took the man driving the Honda to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A woman operating one of the other vehicles complained of pain to her arm but did not require transport. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced the intersection of Golden Springs and Brea Canyon to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Diamond Bar crash is still under investigation.
