Diana Cruz Tellez Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Chester Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(April 30, 2026) — Diana Cruz Tellez, 58, died last Thursday in a pedestrian accident on North Chester Avenue in Bakersfield.

The California Highway Patrol reported the woman was struck by a vehicle around 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in the 1200 block of North Chester Avenue.

Detectives investigating the collision determined that a 22-year-old woman driving a 2008 Infiniti G35 was traveling northbound on North Chester Avenue when she struck the victim in the roadway outside of a crosswalk.

The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics. The 58-year-old woman was later identified as Diana Cruz Tellez by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

Meanwhile, the young woman driving the Infiniti cooperated with investigators.
