Diana Elizabeth Schalk Killed in Crash with Suspected DUI Driver
SHASTA COUNTY, California (February 3, 2020)–Diana Elizabeth Schalk, 27, of Pembroke, died Wednesday, January 29th in a collision with a suspected drunken driver on State Route 299 near Whiskeytown Lake in Redding.
The cash took place on State Route 299 near Grizzley Gulch Road in Shasta County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of a 1999 Toyota pickup truck crashed head-on with a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Schalk.
Suspected DUI Driver Arrested
Hawk Blaze Bergstrom, 42, of Redding, was reportedly driving drunk at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, Schalk suffered serious injuries in the accident and was transported to a hospital. She later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Bergstrom was seriously injured and was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police later arrested Blaze Bergstrom on suspicion of DUI.
The crash remains under investigation to determine fault.
