Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Accident on Country Club Drive
PALM DESERT (May 14, 2018) – Diana Young, 61, of Palm Springs, has been identified as the bicyclist who was seriously injured after a traffic collision on Country Club Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Sadly, she died of her injuries two days later at the Eisenhower Medical Center on May 16th at 1:12 p.m.
Police say Young was riding her bicycle when she was struck by a motorist about 6:10 a.m. on May 14th.
She had been riding her bike in the eastbound lanes of Country Club Drive between Cook Street and Portola Avenue.
Paramedics responded to the scene and attended to the cyclist who appeared to have suffered major injuries following the crash. The victim was reportedly transported to the hospital where the patient was listed in serious condition.
Following the collision, police with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Palm Desert station closed down the eastbound lanes of Country Club to conduct their investigation.

In this case, there are several questions that need to be resolved in order to determine the liability in the crash. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Who had the right of way? Did the driver involved show recklessness or negligence at some point?
Once the investigation process is over and it concludes that a party has been negligent and caused the injuries of the bicyclist, the victim has likely a right to pursue a claim seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
