Bicyclist Killed in Chico Crash is Identified as Diane Ruby

 Diane Ruby Fatal Bicycle Accident Humboldt Road in ChicoCHICO, Calif. (May 27, 2020) — Diane Ruby, 63, was struck by a vehicle and killed while riding a bicycle Sunday morning on Humbolt Road in Chico.

The collision was reported about 10 a.m. near Malloy Creek Trail on Sunday, May 24th, according to  a report by Action News Now.

On Tuesday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office identified Ruby as the bicyclist who died in the crash.

Police say that Ruby was riding on Humboldt Road when an approaching SUV slowed to avoid hitting another bicyclist. She reportedly swerved on her bicycle before losing control and hitting the SUV. Paramedics responded and rushed her to Enloe Medical Center, but unfortunately she died at the hospital.

Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors. The driver also did not appear to be speeding at the time of the crash.
