1 Injured in Mountain View DUI Crash on Highway 101 Near San Antonio Road
MOUNTAIN VIEW (December 12, 2019) – One was hospitalized after an alleged DUI crash along Highway 101 early Thursday.
According to an article published by The Mercury News, the multi-vehicle accident took place at about 1:45 a.m. near the San Antonio Road exit.
The incident began when a 2018 Ford Focus traveling north on Highway 101 struck the center divide. Its two occupants exited the disabled car without turning its hazard lights on in the second-to-left lane.
California Highway Patrol said a 2017 white Ford pickup truck failed to stop and slammed into the Focus. Subsequently, a 2007 Red GMC truck filled with construction gravel also hit the 2018 Ford.
Suspected Intoxicated Driver Diego Ruiz-Marin, 20, Arrested
Paramedics responded to the scene and provided initial treatment to a passenger riding the 2017 Ford pickup who suffered minor injuries upon impact.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. The name and condition of the wounded patient at this time were not available.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the Ford Focus was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the wreck.
Officers arrested the suspect, 20-year-old Stanford resident Diego Andres Ruiz-Marin, on suspicion of DUI. The incident is still under investigation.
