Santa Rosa Fatal Head-on Crash; 1 Injured
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 13, 2018) — Digna Torres of Santa Rosa has been identified as the driver who was critically injured in a head-on collision that took the life of a San Francisco firefighter.
Torres was driving a Chevrolet Suburban that was struck by Steven Pacatte, 34, of Monte Rio, as he attempted to pass a Recology garbage truck on Wednesday, Dec. 12. His Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck crashed into the SUV driven by Torres about 5:32 a.m. during heavy fog.
Torres was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Meanwhile, Pacatte died of his injuries on his way to the hospital.
Torres was driving to work at the Manzana Products apple cannery at the time of the collision.

Santa Rosa Accident Investigation
Police are reviewing all the evidence surrounding this collision. At this time it appears that Mr. Pacatte was responsible and therefore his insurance company is liable to cover the financial losses of Digna Torres.
