Nils Gustavson Killed in Head-on Crash
LOMPOC, Calif. (Monday, Feb. 13, 2024) — Dillon Carter Sederlan, 28, of Solvang, was injured in a head-on crash Sunday on Highway 246 at Mission Gate Road in the Lompoc area.
Also, Nils G. Gustavson, 44, of Lompoc, died in the two-vehicle collision that occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 11th, according to KSBY and the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported Nils Gustavson was driving a 1997 Saab sedan westbound when he allegedly crossed over the highway’s double yellow lines into the eastbound lanes. Apparently, roughly half of the sedan was over the lines and the front end of the Saab hit the front of an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Dillon Sederlan.
Paramedics responded to help both drivers who were injured in the collision, but the driver of the Saab died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Solvang man driving the pickup truck was transported to a hospital with undisclosed minor to moderate injuries.
Police are investigating the crash and asking for witnesses to contact the Buellton-area CHP Office at (805) 688-5551.
