Man Killed in Police Pursuit Crash Identified

Dionicio Ajanel Killed in Koreatown Crash Wilton Place, Sixth StreetLOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2021) – Dionicio Baten Ajanel, 31, of Los Angeles, died Thursday night in a collision with a suspect being chased in a police pursuit.

Two other people in a second vehicle suffered major injuries in the collision.

The third police pursuit involved a driver suspected of being involved in human trafficking.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified Dionicio Baten Ajanel as the person who died in the 11:45 p.m. crash.

Deadly Crash at Wilton Place and Sixth Street

The Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division’s Vice Unit began a pursuit of the suspect about 11:35 p.m. on Thursday.

The suspect’s vehicle subsequently collided with two uninvolved vehicles near Wilton Place and Sixth Street near Koreatown, the LAPD said.

Dionicio Ajanel was in one of the uninvolved vehicles and died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported two people from the second uninvolved vehicle to a hospital. They are listed in critical condition, police said.

Also, police arrested the human trafficking suspect on undisclosed charges. Furthermore, they transported him to a hospital in unknown condition.

Investigators continue to work on the case.
