Vehicle Hits Fire Hydrant, Tree, and Overturns
LOCATION: Dixon, CA
DATE OF INCIDENT: Monday, July 23rd
July 24, 2018- According to the California Highway Patrol, an injurious 2-car crash was reported yesterday at the intersection of Betavia and Midway roads.
At roughly 2:55 p.m., an alleged green minivan and a white Toyota Camry were the involved vehicles.
Reports indicated that one of the vehicles overturned and also struck a fire hydrant in the process prior to hitting a tree.
Elderly Woman Struck Inside Vehicle and Hospitalized
At least one person was trapped inside their vehicle and injured. The victim was described as an elderly woman who was assisted by fire department personnel before being transported by ambulance to a hospital.
No information or details were provided on the cause of the collision and what exactly transpired.
Authorities remained present at the scene for over two hours collecting evidence for their investigation.
A forensic examination of both vehicles, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine the cause of the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
