3-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Dixon on the I-80 Freeway
DIXON, Calif. (May 10, 2022) — A fatal Dixon crash involving a semi-truck happened Tuesday morning on the westbound Interstate 80 Freeway.
The traffic accident occurred about 6:53 a.m. on May 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a big rig truck, a white Ford F-450 work pickup truck loaded with equipment and a brown pickup truck collided near the Pedrick Road on ramp. News reports stated the driver in one of the pickups rear-ended the other one. The first one went on to side-swipe a big rig truck.
The semi-truck suffered major front-end damage in the collision with the other vehicles.
Debris was scattered across the roadway including equipment from the work truck such as wheel barrows, buckets and sand.
A 42-year-old Sacramento resident driving the first pickup died at the scene of the collision. The Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner responded to the scene. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Sacramento man riding in the first pickup truck suffered major injuries.
Also, four people riding in the second pickup truck that was rear-ended, were all treated for minor injuries. None of them were taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Caltrans sent cleanup crews to the crash scene and investigators are working to determine liability for the multi-vehicle collision.
