Kern County, CA (May 17, 2022)Donald Lavern Beith, an 88-year-old man, died following a road accident that occurred on Highway 46.

On May 7, a U-Haul truck collided with a tanker at Blackwell’s Corner. The Taft Midway Driller News reported Beith was behind the wheel of the U-Haul when the wreck happened.

Preliminary investigation revealed the U-Haul was heading east on SR-46. For reasons still under investigation, a tanker making a left turn to westbound Highway 46 crashed into the U-Haul.

Deadly U-Haul Accident in Kern County at Blackwell’s Corner

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the driver of the U-Haul unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Kern County Coroner identified the deceased as Donald Lavern Beith.

Authorities added at least one occupant in the tanker sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Personal information on the injured party remained undisclosed pending confirmation.

Detectives stayed at the scene for several hours. They continue to investigate exactly how and why the unfortunate event happened on Highway 46 in Blackwell’s Corner.
