Donald Johnson Pedestrian Killed in Berkeley Hit-and-run Crash
BERKELEY, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2019) — A pedestrian, identified as Donald Johnson, 64, was died in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in Berkeley.
The man was struck in a crosswalk near the Ashby BART station on Adeline Street in Berkeley.
The incident was reported to 911 about 10:22 p.m. A driver was reportedly speeding when they struck the man, leaving him with major injuries. Paramedics responded, but Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Berkeley Police Department is heading up the investigation into the crash. During the investigation, police closed down Adeline Street between Ashby Avenue and Essex Street in both directions.
Police and the organization Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver.
