Donna Jo Czechan, 56, Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run on South Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 5, 2021) – Donna Jo Czechan was killed after a hit-and-run crash on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
The Kern County coroner’s office identified the 56-year-old Bakersfield woman as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Donna Jo Czechan was walking on South Union Avenue, just south of Pacheco Road, in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck the pedestrian. The Kern Golden Empire wrote that the accident occurred on October 2 shortly after 10:50 p.m.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim left lying on the ground. Donna Jo Czechan sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian crash.
Medical personnel soon pronounced her dead at the scene. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the woman and fled northbound on South Union Avenue.
Officers described the suspect car as a dark-colored sedan. Anyone with information can call the Bakersfield CHP area office at 396-6600.
The cause of the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
