Highway 3 Crash Near Douglas City, California
DOUGLAS CITY, Calif. (May 3, 2018) – A boy was hospitalized Wednesday morning following a crash where the vehicle he was riding in was rear-ended by another motorist on Highway 3, just south of Redding Creek Road near Douglas City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
There were four people complaining of pain after the vehicle was struck about 8:27 a.m. this morning. The CHP report stated the black Toyota pickup truck was reportedly tailgating a silver Hyundai Elantra carrying two children and ran into the rear of the Hyundai.
Paramedics rushed the injured boy to Tri City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
Car Accident Investigation
It appears at this time that the driver in the Toyota will be held liable for this collision. Drivers are required under California law to pay attention to the road ahead and leave enough space between vehicles to avoid hitting another car. Police are piecing together evidence at the scene to determine fault.
