CAJON PASS, California (October 12, 2016) – Several motorists, including a man identified as Patrick Michael Punker, were struck by a driver who allegedly fell asleep while traveling on the southbound Interstate 15 freeway Wednesday morning, according to an article by VVNG.
Around 3 vehicles–a black Jeep SUV with rear-end damage, a red sedan with front-end damage, and a gray Ford Explorer with rear-end damage, were found at the site following the crash that occurred at about 6:19 a.m. near Highway 138.
Responding paramedics provided treatment at the scene to the victims who only sustained scratches and light wounds. Authorities continue to probe the exact count of people hurt.
Further, the suspect who set the mishap in motion was carried by land ambulance to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. As per the article, the suspect’s vehicle was a white Toyota Tacoma and has sustained front-end damage.
Punker claimed the suspect possibly fell asleep while driving as he witnessed the Tacoma recklessly swerving in and out of the lanes.
Investigation is underway to determine charges and liabilities.
