Pedestrian Killed in Dublin Crash on Dougherty Road
DUBLIN, CA (August 1, 2022) – A DUI crash on Dougherty Road killed a pedestrian in the city of Dublin.
According to the CBS San Francisco and Pleasanton Weekly, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the collision at around 10 p.m.
The incident happened on July 31 when a woman was walking in the southbound lanes of Dougherty Road. A Chevrolet SUV approached and then struck her.
Police said the car hit the pedestrian in the 6200 block of the road, just north of Dublin Boulevard and north of the Interstate 580.
DUI Driver Hits Woman
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim down on the ground. She sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel pronounced the patient dead at the scene. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police determined that the man driving the SUV was under the influence of alcohol. They also located a child inside his car at the time.
Officers soon arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, DUI and child abuse. The fatal Dublin pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced a stretch of Dougherty Road to shut down following the incident. Anyone with information can call the police at 925-833-6638.
