Man Seriously Injured in Atwater DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 99
ATWATER (May 5, 2018) – A driver was seriously injured after an alleged DUI hit-and-run crash along Highway 99 Saturday morning, according to Merced Sun Star.
The accident took place at about 6 a.m. on the Atwater Boulevard on-ramp to southbound Highway 99.

As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a man in his 30s was about to merge onto Highway 99 from the Atwater Boulevard on-ramp when his 2006 Ford Focus was struck from behind by a 2001 Honda Accord.
The Ford was then pushed into the southbound lanes of the highway and rolled over several times.

CHP affirmed that the man driving the Focus was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major head injuries considered as life-threatening. His name and condition at this time time remained unknown.
Meanwhile, the motorist in the Honda exited his car and allegedly fled on foot. The suspect, 34-year Asa Ince, was later located in the area of Atwater Boulevard and Winton Way. He was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the crash occurred.
The Merced man was arrested for felony DUI and hit-and-run charges. He was hospitalized as a precaution and was expected to be booked into jail after being released.
