2 Injured After DUI Hit-and-Run Driver Crashed Into Fresno Taco Truck
FRESNO, CA (October 9, 2021) – Two customers were injured after a DUI hit-and-run driver crashed into a Fresno taco truck near Maple and Belmont avenues.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the accident took place on Saturday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 6:55 p.m.
The incident began when a Tacos El Bello food truck was parked near the intersection of Maple and Belmont avenues in Fresno. A man in his 50s was eating at a table near the food truck at the time.
Fresno police said a van came, accelerated and then plowed into the taco truck. In the process, the van also struck the man who sustained significant head trauma upon impact.
A woman sitting outside the parked truck saw the vehicle and jumped of the way. She survived with scrapes and bruises following the collision.
Suspect Plows Into Food Truck, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the man to the Fresno Community Regional Medical Center.
Medical personnel treated the woman at the site for the minor injuries she sustained in the incident. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the van abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. They found several empty cans of beer on the floorboard of the van.
Officers soon located and arrested the suspect. They added that the taco truck obtained significant damage and ended up closed following the Fresno collision.
